The Folsom Powerhouse, a significant part of Sacramento's history, illustrates the advancement of electricity's commercial use. H.P. Livermore harnessed the American River's water to generate power 22 miles downstream. Built in 1895, it retains its original appearance. Its opening featured a "grand electric carnival" parade and a 100-gun salute. Vintage generators and the Tennessee marble control switchboard remain. Visitors can view General Electric transformers and the canal system that supplied water from the dam.
